The word personality comes from the Latin word persona, which means mask or role. A person's personality can be broken down into 5 components: the big five personality traits, openness to experience, conscientiousness, extroversion, and agreeableness.

Your personality can make all the difference in your success or failure in life, as it has an impact on how you interact with other people. The better you understand yourself and your personality, the easier it will be to adapt to different situations and have the confidence needed to achieve your goals. 

When it comes to health, most people think of food, exercise, and medical checkups. But what about mental health? Developing healthy personality traits, or having good personality development, can be just as important as diet and exercise when it comes to your long-term success and happiness. Here are seven reasons why personality development is so important.


It’s okay to have bad days

When I see people on the internet going through a hard time or getting dragged through the mud for having an unpopular opinion, I feel bad.

But I'm here to tell you that it's okay to have bad days. There are countless people in this world who go through worse things than us and they're still successful, which means we can all make it out of this! Just don't lose hope and never stop fighting. 


And even if you do have bad days, they will always be followed by good ones so there is always something to look forward to. Sometimes all you need is a little bit of self-care and reflection to get your head right again and remind yourself that everything will turn out okay if you keep trying. It may seem like some people just lucked out, but really everyone has had their share of bad days and struggles, and yet they managed to come out strong on the other side.



The only way we'll ever truly fail is if we give up without trying first. That doesn't mean we should live our lives recklessly; no one likes risk takers. However, when the stakes are high enough, sometimes there is no other option left but to take a leap of faith into uncertainty because life itself is worth more than what any plan can offer. Some people just need more convincing than others before they try new things; however, at least half of those people regret not doing anything when they reach retirement age and wish they would've taken more risks during their prime years instead of living in regret. 


So don't be afraid to take chances, as long as you research ahead of time and prepare for potential consequences.

It’s impossible to know how you’ll react until you put yourself in that situation: A lot of times when people ask me about my biggest fear, I answer change. Change scares me because it means change: change in routines, change in environment, change with the people around me. 


But then again, nothing stays the same forever anyways (even Earth will eventually die). So even though change is scary and difficult to adapt to at first, isn't it better than being stagnant? Isn't stagnation what keeps most people from moving forward?

Depression often starts from our own problems, not anyone else's. When we notice that, it helps put things in perspective, and helps us to better appreciate the things in life that are good. It can help us remember the good times and all of the people who love us. Then, rather than taking all of our anger out on others who've wronged us, we can forgive them and make amends instead.

For example, say one of your values is charity-doing volunteer work means more than donating money because you'll be actively involved in helping someone else's situation. 


Of course, there are plenty of benefits beyond just making oneself happier-being altruistic has been shown to lead to better physical health outcomes such as reduced heart disease risk! Personality development is important for a happy life and it's easy to see why: it helps you to connect with others, with nature, and be yourself.

Mistakes are inevitable. The only thing you can do to avoid them completely is not do anything at all. Learning from your mistakes can often be invaluable and provide the best lessons of all! From the first day, you set foot in school, where you learn that wrong doesn't always mean bad, up until your last day on earth, knowing what mistakes have led to success or misery and which ones you need to avoid at all costs will always remain key to any kind of success, personal or professional. So, before we get into the reasons why personality development is important, let's take a look at some common life-changing errors:


* Admitting defeat too soon; refusing to make an effort when needed; ignoring feedback when it could really help; believing others over yourself; choosing safety over potential risks.


All these mistakes can change lives and lead people down paths they never expected themselves to go down. Even if it's not our responsibility to fix their mistake, we should still try to help by pointing out alternatives so they don't continue making the same mistake again and again. And one way we can help someone make better decisions is by giving them an understanding of who they are as a person so they know how much energy they have for risk-taking behavior. 


It's true, that self-awareness takes time and practice, but it has huge benefits for improving self-esteem and preventing regret in the future.

With this knowledge about ourselves under our belt, we'll be able to figure out where we fit within society so we can make adjustments accordingly. 


For example, many introverts tend to feel exhausted after spending hours around other people while extroverts might start craving social interaction after being alone for too long. Knowing ourselves helps us find new ways to recharge while also ensuring that we don't put ourselves through unnecessary stress without realizing it.

Often times we think of a job title as the end-all-be-all of what a person does in life, but it's more accurate to think of it as simply a place for you to use your skills in the right environment. 7) Imagine your life as if it were a movie: what is the title and who stars in it? Where does it happen? How does it end? Which song plays at the end credits? 


Think about how your life will change by asking yourself these questions. By doing so, you can identify the opportunities that may be waiting for you or ways that can lead to a better understanding of yourself and help you figure out where to go next. 


The person you become after answering these questions will be much different than the person you were before- and that's a good thing! 


As Aristotle once said, We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. Taking time to answer these seven questions will give you insight into habits and skills that you can use to develop into the person you want to be. Your new habits will shape your personality over time and result in significant changes in your life and all areas of achievement including health, social, professional, and personal.

I highly recommend trying one out in order to jumpstart your exploration of self-discovery. Remember: try not to get discouraged if things don't seem perfect now because great things start from humble beginnings.

This makes sense. When you're dealing with a setback or feeling down, it's important to surround yourself with people who care about you and want to see you succeed. It can be hard to stay motivated in the midst of failure, but when there are people around you who want your success, it becomes easier and more manageable. 


Having friends and family by your side motivates you more because they get just as excited about your success as they do their own. So this one may not seem like much at first, but if you think about it from an outside perspective, this actually has a huge impact on how successful someone will be in life. If you have those close relationships where people genuinely care about your success, then it's going to be easier for you to stay focused and keep pushing through.

 

For instance, what would happen if you were running a marathon? You would find that there would be other runners who were rooting for you along the way. Those supporters provide motivation for us--they keep us going during our lows--because we know that we'll have that support later on in life. And even though we might not realize it at the time, having those supporters during our lows does help motivate us to push through and finish strong. 


Whether it's getting a promotion at work or making progress in another aspect of life, we need that external force that pushes us to achieve more. As the saying goes: A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. 


No matter how far you've come, no matter how many setbacks you've dealt with in the past, all these things don't matter without any external source of motivation to keep going. That doesn't mean you should forget everything else you've done before, but it does mean


that we need some sort of incentive to give us the strength and drive to continue.


To end on a positive note, sometimes it takes less than 10 seconds to turn everything around. That could be anything from talking to a friend for reassurance or reading something inspirational--whatever gets you back into a good mood again. 


We shouldn't wait until we're at rock bottom before reaching out for help; rather, take advantage of every opportunity available so that it's easier to rise up again when needed. The person you spend most of your time with reflects who you are: One way to better understand oneself is to look at what others say about them. One thing I personally notice is that if I'm spending my days surrounded by a certain type of person, then my personality starts shifting in that direction. And if I'm constantly surrounded by happy people, then I become happier too.

 

What happens here is that I start seeing myself as part of the group--part of the pack--and my feelings mirror theirs accordingly. The same thing goes for anger or sadness; when surrounded by those emotions long enough, it feels natural and normal to me now. And I think that's why people say that the person you spend the most time with, either at home or at work, is the person you eventually become. 

So in order to be a successful individual, it's imperative to be a healthy individual. 


But in order to be a healthy individual, we need supportive people in our lives--whether that's coworkers or friends and family. Without them, it becomes harder and harder to build a life worth living for.
